The headline of “Record GDP!” is misleading

You can’t cherry-pick one quarter of GDP, especially without putting it into context. In context, we just had our worst quarter of GDP ever. Oh and don’t forget that Q1 GDP was bad too, though of course I grant that it doesn’t look that bad relative to Q2. I also grant that not having a record breaking Q3 would be terrifying following an apocalyptic Q2, but of course that doesn’t mean we’re “out of the woods” yet.

Also, since we declined 32% in Q2 a number like 32% in Q3 doesn’t get us back to “break-even”. That’s not how it works, because once you take…
